Justin Waggle

Justin Waggle

Artistic Director

Justin Waggle brings over 20 years of theatre experience, including acting and directing at Oregon Cabaret Theatre in Ashland and the Group Rep in Los Angeles. Justin has a proven track record in project management and programming, notably with Panda Game Manufacturing, Academy Studios for museum projects, and a variety of Hollywood advertising and marketing companies. Additionally, he has taught as a guest lecturer in game design at UC Santa Cruz and founded two successful companies: Waggle Web and Gray Wolf Games. He has written three plays and designed three board games. Justin brings a rich blend of artistic vision and managerial expertise to Tide Pool Theatre Company, emphasizing the importance of compelling storytelling and analytical thinking.

Rebecca Goldman

Rebecca Goldman

Producer & Community Liaison

Rebecca Goldman is a native of Santa Cruz and was among the first residents of the Tannery Arts Center. She was also in the first cohort in the working studios at the Tannery, where she helped launch Catamaran Literary Reader. As a member of the arts community in Santa Cruz, Rebecca designed “The Chamber of Heart and Mystery” at the MAH; organized the political arts festival ResistFest along with ARRT; and taught art at UCSC. She is a veteran of several San Francisco Bay Area start-up companies, has worked in TV, film, and publishing, and is currently a Producer for local screenwriter and children’s book author David Zeltser.

Christa Hamilton

Box Office Manager

Christa Hamilton is a versatile professional with a rich background in the arts, customer service, and web development. With experience as an actor, singer, and dancer, she brings vibrant energy to every project. Having worked for 12 years in customer service with Goldstar Events, she’s known for her dedication to client satisfaction. With her keen attention to detail, Christa will oversee ticketing operations at the Colligan Theater. Additionally, she will use her marketing skills to promote the theater to audiences in Santa Cruz and beyond.

Kyle Vasquez

Kyle Vasquez

Co-Producer

Kyle Vasquez, the Artistic Director and founder of Renegade Theater Co., boasts an extensive background in theater that began at the age of three and has since encompassed roles such as performer, director, costume designer, and more. With a fervent passion for the performing arts, Kyle is committed to fostering environments that emphasize the mental health of children and teens in the high-pressure world of theater. Additionally, with over two decades of experience in various educational roles and an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Kyle also leads Seven Directions Creative Learning Center, which collaborates closely with Renegade to provide acting classes and artistic opportunities.

Ana Bogren

Production Manager/ Director

Ana grew up in Santa Cruz doing local theatre, choir, and dance. She has been involved with theatre since she was five years old, and performed and worked for theatre companies all over Santa Cruz including West Performing Arts, All About Theatre, Cabrillo Stage, and Mountain Community Theatre. She was most recently seen onstage in MCT’s production of Something Rotten! as Bea Bottom.

Ana has extensive vocal training from voice teachers Stephanie Raugust, Laura Lorber, Lori Rivera, and has performed with the Central Coast Honor Choir (2016). Ana’s specific theatre interest is in musical theatre and vocal performance. Ana is passionate about bringing unique and extraordinary theatre for young performers and adults to the community, and is ecstatic to be part of Renegade Theater Co.’s legacy!

Mara Frey

Mara Frey

Choreographer

A native to Santa Cruz, Mara Frey grew up dancing and taking classes of all styles around town. At age 6 she started with tap and ballet until she found Synergy Studios at age 11 and began to train with Joy Smith in Hip Hop and Street Jazz. Mara found her love for choreography during her involvement with Harbor High’s dance team, Escapades.

She began to focus more on contemporary jazz and choreographed several numbers for the team. Today she continues her involvement in dance over at Motion Pacific taking either Hip Hop or Contemporary Jazz. She currently lives in Santa Cruz with her husband Chris and their 2 year old son James.

Jorge Torrez

Jorge Torrez

Music Director

Jorge Torrez grew up in Salinas where he attended Salinas High School. After graduating, he studied Choral Directing and Vocal Performance under Cheryl Anderson at Cabrillo College. He graduated from the University of the Pacific Conservatory of Music with a bachelor of music in Vocal Performance where he specialized in Baroque and Classical performance.

He is currently the director of choral activities at both Soquel High School and Santa Cruz High School where he directs the Jazz Singers, Mixed Chorus, Concert Choirs and Mariachi Ensemble. He has music directed Seussical and Little Shop of Horrors for Harbor/Soquel High, Mean Girls for Santa Cruz High, and Be More Chill for Renegade Theatre Co.

Scottie Tsubota

Director

Scottie is an actor and educator born and raised in the East Bay Area with experience in both for over a decade. He began his involvement in theater in middle school as a squirrel in Willy Wonka Jr and hasn’t looked back since.

He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater from Southern Oregon University and a Master of Arts in Theater from UC Santa Cruz.His area of study includes: Musical Theater, Children’s Theater, Shakespeare, and conservatory-based Acting, Voice, and Movement. Scottie is currently a one-to-one behavioral and medical aide at Westlake Elementary School, passionate about working with students of all ages.

Don Williams

Co-Producer

Donald G. Williams is a producer, director, educator, technical advisor, and lecturer at the University of California, Santa Cruz and Cabrillo College. Williams has presented plays, presentations, and workshops throughout California. He is a member of the California Educational Theater Association, Black Theater Network, National Black Theater Festival, United States Institute of Theater Technology and NAACP.  Williams has been teaching at UCSC for 28 years within the UCSC Theater Arts. He is the founder and director of the UCSC African American Theater Arts Troupe in 1991 and producer of Rainbow Theater in 1993, focusing on African Americans, Asian Americans, and Chicanx/ Latinx Americans’ culture and experiences.

JP Parvis, founder of Kintsugi Cafe and Tannery resident, has a rich history as a culinary innovator and artist. His journey in the food industry is marked by notable tenures as the head chef of 515 Kitchen & Cocktails; the creative force behind Lionfish/Ulterior Motive Pop-Up Kitchen; and the culinary mind at Gordo Gustavo’s Smoked Meat & Stuff as well as the Art Bar Cafe. JP’s diverse background in the arts, including professional dancing and music, deeply influences his approach to cuisine and community building. He is passionate about life and its myriad stories, believing firmly in the power of food to unite and inspire joy among people. At the heart of JP’s work is a commitment to creating an inclusive menu that caters to a wide array of tastes, all in a welcoming space where everyone can gather and share in the delight of exceptional food and company.

Nate Smith

After spending the early years of his career training under some of the finest Michelin-starred chefs, Nate Smith graduated from the Culinary Institute of America and founded Blossom Catering Company in Napa Valley in 2014. After the COVID-19 pandemic, his focus has shifted to much more intimate gatherings, where the relationship between the guests and the chef can really shine and the food becomes much more personal. Chef Nate has always kept his focus on producing amazing cuisine. Highlighting local, seasonal products while showcasing ingredients and techniques inspired by years of culinary experience and world travel, he has satisfied hundreds of clients from local families, businesses, and some of the finest wineries in the Napa Valley.
